The Core Question That Changes Everything
In the pursuit of greater productivity and purpose, the answer isn’t always a new tool or complex system. Sometimes, it comes down to a single, simple question: “Am I in a season of Yes or No?”
This question helps cut through the clutter and define your primary focus for a given period, ultimately allowing you to align your daily actions with your biggest goals.
The Season of ‘Yes’: Exploring and Growing
For many of us, saying ‘Yes’ is how we grow. This is the growth phase—a time for exploration, expanding your network, learning from mistakes, and discovering new opportunities.
- You say yes to coffee meetings.
- You say yes to new projects outside your comfort zone.
- You say yes to learning a new skill.
In the beginning, saying ‘Yes’ is essential for building momentum and finding out what truly matters to you and your business.
The Season of ‘No’: Prioritizing and Focusing
But clarity comes with time, and eventually, the strategy needs to shift to ‘No.’ This is the focus phase—a time for eliminating distractions and doubling down on what truly aligns with your core purpose.
The strategy of ‘No’ means:
- Prioritizing your family, community, and core business.
- Saying no to peripheral distractions that consume time without driving results.
- Focusing deeply on the few things that matter most.
As the saying goes, “You only get tomorrow once. Who do you want to offer it to?” This perspective helped me realize that to significantly increase production, I had to ruthlessly protect my time. For me, 2025 is my Year of No.
Your Strategy: Which Season Are You In?
The power isn’t in always saying one or the other, but in knowing which season you are in right now.
Take time this week to reflect and determine your current strategy:
- Are you in a season of Yes, exploring, learning, and expanding?
- Or a season of No, prioritizing your most important work and protecting your time?
Let me know where you’re at—I’d love to hear from you!
